2nd Generation 3s-ge Question

G'day all

I was wondering, i have a 3sfe and wanted to do a quick swap to a 3sge. My question is will my current wiring harness be suffient or will i need a new one? I figure i'll need a new ecu, and i'm hoping my manual can take the incresed power. But yeah, just wondering about the wiring. So any help?

Thanks

You would need a new ECU, wiring harness (spliced correctly into your current harness), engine, new clutch (possibly custom), flywheel...

At least your current mounts would be fine! (and your tranny would hold up if its still in decent shape)

^ Wiring is not easy. Even for someone that knows how to read schematics and has experience doing wiring.

Quick and swap (different motor), doesn't go together.

To get an idea of what you'll be dealing with wiring wise, see link below:

mmmm, i thought the 3sge was only different from the 3sfe in the way that the head was different and it had forged internals :S

maybe i should just do up the 3sfe? or put on a 3sge head?

Well the head and internals are different. But so are the ecu, wiring, sensors, ignition system, etc..

You can't just drop it in, tighten a few bolts, and expect it to work.

Thats your call.

IMO though, if your going to swap the head, you might as well do a complete 3S-GE swap.
