Gen5 Real power problems

I have a 2003 Camry.

So i got a new system, its drawing around 200Amps and its kicking my alternators ass. My headlights practically shut off to the music and my gauges blink at me.

Im upgrading my Big three from 4 gauge to 0 Gauge, that should help some. Also im shortening my Amp wires from 2 Ft. to 8". Other than that i dont know where to go from there.

Many suggest a second battery but you just cant go adding a battery in parallel with the amp...id have to run all new wires and Id still need a new Alternator.

My Stock alternator is 80A and my Engine is the 2AZ-FE (2.5L I4). I have looked high and low for local places that will rebuild alternators to high powers (i.e. from 80 - 160A). But i only found One place in Massachucetts and they said they cant do my camry. So now im lost.

I found Two places that can give me a H/O alternator. One place i think its called "Ohio Generators" Can custom build me one thats 250A but thats $650.

This site here http://www.mralternator.com/alternators/toyota.html says they have h/o alternators for camrys 94-2002. 2002-2004 are Generation 5's wouldnt a 2002 Alternator work on my 03 camry?

Should i get that alternator from the site above (150A)? Would it fit my car.

And if all else fails, is it possible to retro fit one into my car from lets say a Land Cruiser or something?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

haha no way, where did you put the xbox?

i think summit or jcwhit has a 2nd battery box thing, where it switches to let both batteries fill when needed.

It's a great thing you got going, but personally, I wouldn't put too much money into audio and game consoles in cars, because it draws attention to car thieves and other interested people.

They probably list the 2002 as part of the Gen 4 model years, as in some countries, the last Gen 4 was 2002, and the first Gen 5 came out in mid 2002. So no, it wouldn't fit.

Where exactly did you find that it draws 200 amps....sounds quite a bit overestimated unless you took an ampmeter or adjusted galvanometer to it. And no you cant just wire two 12V batteries in parallel, youll pretty much burn out anything hooked up to it. upgrading your 4 guage to 0 guage will be absolute minimal performance gain for the lengths needed as shown by there resistances:

4 guage: .2485 ohms/1000ft @20C
0 guage: actually cant find it but
2 guage: .1563 ohms/1000ft @20C

since i cant find 0 guage in my electrical engineering book youll have to make a rough estimate but as you can see since your lengths are so short the internal resistance of the wire is nearly negligable to begin with

if in fact somehow your amp(s) do draw 200 amps how your battery isnt dead constantly is beyond me

Well the amp has 150A fuse on it and my other amp has 60AMP fuses, so i assume the most they could draw would be 200A. thats how i came to my conclusion.

Does anyone know where i can get a Alternator?

150 and 60 amp in line fuses? or built in fuses? this makes a big difference
