Engine problems

I have recently had to get my engine replaced  . Now i am haveing two problems now.(1) My radiator is acting funny. It boils but my car doesn't over heat and there is no steam coming from any where what could it be?(2) Is my engine kinda sputters when I push on the gas and then it just stops outta no where. All this stuff is really bothering me and if it's something simple i am sure i can fix it myself. If anyone out there can help me in anyway i would love to know what this prolem is.

Thanks,
Nathan

I'll take a stab at answering your questions...

1) Not quite sure on this one. How do you know your radiator boils? Are you opening the radiator when the car is hot or something? There may be some blockage or something in your cooling system or something, maybe?

2) Sounds like you have a weak ignition system. If you slowly add gas, does thet car keep driving? Things to try replacing: Cap+wires (its one unit on the gen2 I4), rotor and coil. If its been wet where you are lately, it may just be water in the distributor, so try drying it out.

Hope that helps a bit...

Try flushing your radiator.

Let's try this again...

1) If you hear it boiling, there may be air in the coolant or something - its probably not boiling. If you engine temp. is fine, its probably nothing though. Do you have extra water/coolant in the overflow bottle?

2) Fix your ignition system, and your car dying problems will go away. See my above post. Same thing happened to me after I got some water in the distributor, I dried it out, and while I was at it replaced the spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. Problem solved.

Engine noises too...

Nathan, sorry to use your thread but I have a couple questions too.

I have a '92 Camry V6 auto tranny with 156,xxx miles. Recently I had the valve seals and headgaskets replaced. Now that I have the car back, I noticed that when I start up the car, I hear a knocking sound from the engine when it's in Park or Neutral. It almost sounds like it's going to die. But it's fine in the other gears. Any ideas what could be wrong?

You'll probably get more answers if you start your own thread...
