Hi,

it's time to change tires.. I was wondering if I can go any wider! I have 215 60R 16 on a Camry 02 SE V6. also I'm looking for a high mileage tire.
these are the tires I was looking at.. can anyone tell me howz Dunlop compared to Michelin and GoodYear?
http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/sea...ge=60&sortby=0

go to www.tirerack.com and you can enter a whole lot of criteria for the kind of tire you are looking for ... i.e. tread wear, and it will throw out a whole bunch of tires of different brands and prices plus reviews from people who bought them.

hope it helps

thanks for the replies.. I went to tirerack.com and yes they have a lot of choices.. but you need to get them installed somewhere. also what about warranty and coverage? Sams Club or Walmart is everywhere and I can get it repaired or replaced anytime if I have any problem that's why I'm leaning towards some store and not online. please share your thoughts..

thanks

i was just suggesting tirerack.com to possibly pick a brand and model of a tire you might want...you can have them get sent to your house or to a mechanic to put them on. See if sams club or walmart has the one you want from the matches you picked from tirerack.

edit: tirerack also has warranties... im not telling you that you have to get them off tirerack, just gettin the facts straight

Go to an actual tire store or TireRack and buy. I recommend Toyo's. Proxes if you like somthing sticky, and the Spectrum if you are more of a ride quality/touring guy.

Hey,
Did you ever find out if you can fit a wider tire on your rim? I've got the V6 SE model that has the 16" alum. wheels and I was thinking I'd like to get 235/55R16's for mine. I know that they wouldn't effect the speedometer at all, but i want to make sure they won't rub or anything during turning, etc.
Let me know what you ended up doing.
Or if anyone else could tell me if these would fit without problems, that'd be great.

Cheers!

I don't know if you will have clearance issues, but 235/55R16 tires are pretty wide for 16X6.5" rims. I would be wondering about unwanted sidewall flex by putting wider tire on a narrow wheel.

And keep in mind, with additional width comes more rolling resistance (as well as mass). Your MPG will likely drop slightly as well.

I reccommend BF Goodrich Traction T/A's. They are affordable and are great in snow and dry situations. Have them on two of my cars.
