oil leak

Alright, so I had my clutch replaced at a shop so it was someone who knew what they were doing BUT ever since I had it replaced my car has been leaking about 1 quart of oil between oil changes. It stinks, it is ruining my garage floor AND obviously not good on my engine. Is there a gasket that got put in wrong or one that should have been replaced? My car didnt leak any oil before this and I want it to stop. Any tips? BTW Its a 95 camry coupe 5 speed manual tranny.

also if theres anything I could add to help stop oil leaks all together instead of a gasket like some additive

Have you been under the car to see where the leak is coming from?
The only quick-fix I can suggest would be to try to clean both mating surfaces as well as you can with some brake cleaner, and then seal the gap with a thick bead of silicone.

Sealing the mating surfaces between the tranny and engine will not help! It is either a rear main seal in which case the tranny will have to come out again, or an external leak someplace on the engine. You have to find out first before you jump to conclusions. No additives will help.

thanx for the input gary. bassed off what u said, unless they messed with something else the only option really is the rear main seal. The car dident leak a drop of oil BEFORE the tranny was seperated from the engine so its gotta be the rear main seal. I will still get under there and clean it up and check it out, thnx.

Just make sure it is not leaking from above and dripping down. If it is a rear main seal it should be dripping between the engine and tranny. Did they replace the rear main seal when they did the clutch? If not they should have as it is simple and cheap to do while they are there.

so I just spoke with the mech who did the tranny job and they said if it wasnt leaking before they wont replace it, actually let me rephrase that "if it aint broke, dont fix it" in other words they DIDNT replace the seal and ima have to find someone to drop the tranny out and do it since I have a lack there of when it comes to proper equipment OR take it to a shop and pay someone 300$ to do it. Bastards.........
