3rd Generation tire on passenger side keeps loosing air???reasons?fix??

hi everyone,i have a tire/rim question here on my gen 3 camry.i have a set of steelies 14 inch.every few days i have to fill my passenger side tire up with air.it takes a little over a week to fully go flat.after i fill it.now first thoughts is a slow leak.but the tire is rather new and the drivers side tire which i purchased together. ive heard something about the rim being bent possibly and thats what is causing the tire to loose air slowly.i also noticed im missing a stud on that tire.their r only 4 that i thread. could that of possibly warped or bent the rim,so its loosing air?give me some advice here.could i possibly get it plugged up at a mechanic??the tread on the tire is more than half still.thanxxxx any and all help is much appreciated.thanxxx again

well...i guess we'll have to find a leak....

umm...mix some dishsoap in water and put into a spray bottle... spray and look for bubbles.

have you had a puncture that was fixed?
why do you think t here is a bend? if so then that might be it.

try those first

DO what he ^^^^^^^ said with the soapy water. spray it down and wait for bubbles. That is where your leak is. If it is in the body of hte tire then you most likely have a very small puncture. If it is around the bead of the tire, where the tire meets the rim then it could be a bent rim or there could be some kind of trach in between the two. You also want to spray around the valve stem and then where the two pieces of the wheel meet. sometimes the welds will start going abd and let air leak there also.

bring it to a tyre shop, they can check for leaks for free.

if there isnt one found (valve, puncture, bead) that means you have a high pressure leak wher eit only looses air on high pressure...ie durning cornering or going over bumps.

try rotating the tyre and resealing, if that doesnt work and you KNOW the tyre is good, you need a new rim.

Had the same problem with one of my rims a while ago. It would take about 2 weeks to lose most of the air. When I first took it to Just Tires, they found a small puncture and had it sealed. That worked for about a month and then started to lose air again. I took it to Just Tires again and they told me that the chrome was peeling on the inside of the rim under the tire which caused improper seal around the bead. They noticed the air was escaping from around the valve stem and changed the stem for free. After that I haven't lost any air in that tire ever since and it has been over 6 months now. I would take it to a tire place and have them check it out. The rim could simply be dirty on the inside and that can also cause improper seal between the tire and the rim bead. hopefully it's just a valve stem. I think thats the cheapest fix. Good luck...

Try filling it with Nitrogen (NOT nitrogen for NOS)

Go to your local tyre shop, they should do it for couple of $$. its $8aud per tyre in Sydney.
