Okay, you have a start. that manifold is crappy though, XS makes a lot of shit, aka turbo's epoxied together... You can get a ct26 from mr2oc.com, i highly suggest that site. Doing stuff ghetto isnt the way to go. Doing stuff bare minimum will not get you far either... I already ahve spent double my budget and im not done yet. You also need oil lines, engine management, etc.... I would read the sticky.. also check my cardomain, it has a huge list of all that will need to be done.

Ghetto is onl;y a figure of speech, go to homemadeturbo.com and look at some of that stuff. Piping from home depot is piping. For an air intake it doesnt really matter that much. Now charge pipes need to be better but even here I see guys using old volvo pipes spliced together witha million couplers and home made boost controllers made from brass fittings. Fittings from home depot are fine too, hose clamps, sealant, JB weld, metal for making brackets, welding supplies, vaccum tees, I have found all at home depot. Certain parts you can get by with cheaply. My whole exhaust is made from old scrap piping, granted it is 304 heavy gauge stainless piping but hey, one mans trash.... Also my brackets and fittings are all from junkyards and secondhand from people or home made. The turbo and manifold are used the only thing I have new is the safc2. As long as the charge pipes hold boost then a pipe is a pipe.

low budget turbo setup = low numbers and unreliability

yea but PVC piping... lol how long do you think thats going to hold up? Do you plan on using rubber couplings to keep the home depot pipes together or are you welding them? What material are they?

hahaha, this is all too funny.

word of advice: never half-azz something, especially with something as serious as a turbo setup.

you are sooo right

i just scored a 3sgte manifold and downpipe for my camry and didn't pay shit. also the rebuilt "ct26 a" was free. aswell as the bov from the mazda. piping i will do and it won't bring my total anywhere near anyof you guys who think you need a bunch of crap to get a turbo system running right

also the further you get away from economy the less reliability you get

remember that cause it's true

As far as my setup I am only using the best, aluminum intercooler piping and it will be welded and silicone couplers with t- bolts. But hey, as far a pvc pipe goes, lots of stock turbo cars come with plastic piping, example, tyhe mitsubishi 3000gt vr4. Bad ass car but lets face it, I have a complete stock intake system from one and its all plastic. Anyone who has ever built a potato gun can tell you that schedule 40 pvc takes about 300-800 psi to rupture, far below a measly 5-9 psi that most people typically run. Water pipes in your house hold up for years to intense pressure changes, stress, and temperature variants and they are all, you guessed it, pvc. Personally I think there is no point in spending a ton of money when you can get the same quality by shopping smart. Get hookups, think what you are buying, many of the same parts like t-bolts and piping are the same as in other industries yet they are much much cheaper.

as far as my pipeing im goin with 2.5 in aluminum fence pipeing with ruber couplers from home depot realy carge piping IS just pipeing as long as it holds the boost its Good enough

... the president of vizion motorsports has a civic runing just about the most ragtag charge pipeing system ever(makes that maxima look like a pro) .. but it holds .... theres about five guys in my car club that are atending UTI in houston who tell me theres an instructor down there with an 800whp supra.. guess where he got his charge pipe.. home depot ....

thanks for the web site about the turbo im gona check it out right now...

and ya i have read the sticky.. about 8 times along with everything else i can get my hands on about this project...

and technicly u realy dont "need" engin management.. the guy with the turbo civic from above ... runing three fish tank cheak valves to release the boost from the vacume line runing to his map sensor + a vacum controled FMU to add in the extra fuel... good to go
besides the fact that its a honda and pretty much sac relgious to boost them .. it works

im here to learn ... the best way to learn is to try it.. if this project works ill be freakin happy if not ... i have another motor in the garage waiting to be put back in the car when this one blows up..

i plan on continuing to upgrade this set up .. right now i just want to get it spooling .. things will improove as i go...
