Yeah, did it outta peer pressure, I hate that. I just had to see where my car was relative to Ratko's and Dickson's. They're pretty much stock except Dickson has a TRD filter. I have a Ractive cone filter and a catback exhaust system. Here are the results:
143 WHP
157.9 ft-lbs Torque
The first run was very similar to this run, the second was crap...they chucked that run. They said my car was really, really hot, I hope that didn't affect the results too much.
From start to 3K, all I heard was my exhaust...then after that, my engine was just screaming!!! It's was so freaking loud, the cone filter was going nuts! He revved it up to 6500 rpm or so...never seen it go so high!
I'm gonna change my cone filter, I think it's really crappy and plus it's really small...hopefully, that'll increase my horsepower, I think it's really restrictive right now. I thought I'd be higher in hp...I'm happy with the torque cuz that's what really matters.
A supra TT was before me, he got around 280 hp and 280 torque...unbelievable!
I'll post the graph when I have a chance, it's pretty interesting....at around 3700 rpm, the lines just go nuts in hp and in torque...hurry up and post yours Dickson!
DPE Racing had dyno day (I should say dyno weekend) on Dec 1st and 2nd. The post was made in the Meeting/Events section of the forum.
Henry: Umm don't blame it on us, we all know you want to get your car dyno but you just don't want to take the drive. Those are some strong figures for 10 year old motor!

Heh...you should hear what S/C Solaras sound like on a dyno...especially 13psi, y-pipe and dual Sebring bullets, or a 5psi S/C Solara with RMM intake and Greddy Evo!
Better yet...Supra TT with 550HP to the wheels! Crazy stuff!

that totally made no sense.
How can torque be the most important thing sure it helps and all, but it also fools u.
Hp is basically how fast your revs go up right? The faster u fly through the rpm the more hp u have (gearing and other factors are also involved but u get my drift).
f*** I'd rather have sh**loads of hp and no torque.
A golf tdi has 90 hp and 155 lb/ft torque.
My car has 140 hp and 125 lb/ft torque.
And I'll rip that german piece of sh** a new asshole. Get my point?
As far as the ractive filter. WHY?
I mean why would u buy something from a company which "specializes" in auto "perfomance" and uses a f***ing parrot for their logo?
Not flaming just my .02c.
Slap a mustang sized K&N on that bad boy.

First off, torque is extremely important. I don't want this to turn into a flame or anything, but our cars are not light. We NEED the torque to get going and also to keep us going throughout the track. You need that torque to pull outta the corners. Anyway, have you ever driven those low torque/high hp cars? For example, a S2000, Celica or Type R? It's not fun to drive unless you're way up in the RPM range and trying to kill the car. It actually sucks to drive around town because you have to rev high just to get em going. Anyway, my point is that without torque, our cars wouldn't fare well on a daily basis or on a track. But, too much torque isn't the best either. You need a balance of everything.

I own a celica and its perfectly fun around town and even better on the highway ask Ratko, don't get me wrong I didnt say torque is not important I'm just saying that hp is much more important than torque.

I'm guessing you have a Celica GT 1ZZ-FE. If you have ever driven the 2ZZ-GE and the 6spd manual...the torque deficit is very evident. Damn torqueless Toyota motors. Bring back the 3S-GTE!
You said it... you own a Celica... its so light that you wouldn't notice as much if you were low on torque as you are. However Camrys are heavy and do need the torque to get going so I agree with Henry and Mr. B... torque is more important for us.

I also agree that torque is more important than horsepower. When you go uphill at like 60km/h or so, you need a torquey engine to prevent you/computer from downshifting; same thing applies to mountain roads. European small cars are known for their torquey engine, but not horsepower, because they don't drive on highway 70% of the time like us do.
