4th Generation problems with my door...

OK so you know that little knob thing in the door jam that indicates whether the door is open or not?? mine has gone bad again so i went and got a new knob, i installed it and it still didn't work.....what else should i check for???

You mean the switch in the door jamb. You most likely need to remove it and take an ohm reading on teh wiring coming to it to find out if you have an open circuit. Maybe you have a bad sire. Doubt a fuse would cause it but check those also. Did you get a new switch or was it used. If esed are you sure it was a good one. Is it causing the dome light to stay on.

i bought a new one. where would the fuse be? and how can i check if i have a open circuit??

to check for an open circuit you would need to pull the switch and use a multimeter to get an ohm reading. Depending on the meter it will tell you if there is an open in the circuit. Best thing to do would be to check the ones you know are good then compare it to teh bad one. You have to make sure you disconnect the abttery before doing taht though or pull the fuse that controls those switches. You can not put power to an ohm meter or you will possibly fry the meter.

You can get a cheap ohm meter at most parts stores or radio shack, Home depot for 20 bucks or so probably. It should be good enough to help you out.
