anyone ever gotten compliments on their stock camry?

Like the title says... I was on my way home from school tonight and stopped to get gas. When I'm done, I go inside, and the girl working there started as soon as I wakled in the door. "I like your car, I really like a white car, that is so clean, it's pretty (I hate having a pretty car) those wheels look really good" Then she asks me what kind of car it is. I'm like WTF? Who doesn't recognize a Camry? All I wanted to do was get a drink, a pack of oreos, pay for my gas, and leave, but instead I was stuck with this. Anyone ever had this type of thing happen? Keep in mind, my car is stock. Even the "wheels" she liked so well are the same kind you'll find on about 80% of 2002 Camry's around. I thought she was kidding at first, but, she wasn't.

Well not completely stock but i've had numerous incidents. 2 where I was pulled over and asked what kind of car it is and once where a corolla owner wanted to see the car accelerate from a light, he wanted to watch and listen to the exhaust. He scared me, he followed me on the fdr from 60st to 23rd st. exit. On the corner of 60st and York avenue I was stopped at a light and this guy had his hand on his chin sayin damn thats the car I wanted. 92 5spd V6 SE - stock rims.

Yes, from a Japanese man that opened a small parts plant in the US to supply a supplier who supplied Nissan. He had worked in the automotive business there for around 30 years. We were going to lunch and I drove my 1992 LE wagon. He said he owned Toyotas while in Japan, and he really liked mine, especially at its age and high mileage. No Toyotas for him now, he had to switch brand loyalty when he opened his plant in the States for obvious reasons!

^^ red florida is full of idiots like that specially in the brandon/valrico area, ive gotten compliments from tons of people, when i first got the car my now fatherinlaw saw it and though it was a brand new car asked me how much i paid for it, i told him and then he realized it was like 9 years old. people at my job specially the cashiers (young highshool girls) all think its a 2000 + plus vehicle from the looks and the shiny paint ( that was in the summer)

When I had my rear panel painted green all of my parking tickets said "Green Toyota LE" because it didn't have Camry written on it anywhere. Maybe when I remove all the emblems from the back the cops will start writing "Green car".

I have a 2003 SE stock and have gotten some compliments.
- Some of my female classmates loved it. One of them had a chance to ride in it and loved the quietness and space. Cleanliness was a whole different issue though.....
- Another classmate of mine, who drives a Corolla, said that it was a good car and will last a long time.
- My brother and a friend thought it was a Lexus from the side.
- My boss saw my car and liked it, especially the SE trim level.

its weird, when i have my stock rims on people dont pay me any attention, and when i have my 18's on i get stares everywhere i go, good stares though. But when my car was at stock ride height and i had my stock wheels and just my tint, people always said it was a clean car, now they just bust in there pants everytime they see it, haha....

ya i get that but i get a lot of people to back me up and say "tune what you want. its yours and you have every right to do what you want with it. anything can be made fast with money."

i dont know if this was intended to be a compliment but i took it as one. my friends dad saw my car and said "jesus that car is huge (he drives a clk430 benz). you got a v6 in there?" i think i put his hopes down when i told him it was a 4 cylinder car i dont know how he thought my car was huge after getting his wife a mercdedes s500 and his son drives a 99 altima which i dont notice much smaller than my car.
