Emissions Test

So today I got my very first invitation to an emmisions test.

Anything I should know about?

I live in illinois, and I have a 1998 LE with the 5s-fe engine about 107,000 miles.

Anything?

thanks

Just make sure you drive around for about 20 minutes, then take it the smog shop. It takes heat for your cat to operate correctly. Make sure there isn't a long wait so your cat doesn't cool down.

I live in Chicago's northwest suburbs. I also have a 98 Camry XLE 4 cylinder 5SFE engine. Your car is OBD2. Just make sure your check engine light (MIL) is not on. They will first check your gas cap for sealing and holding pressure and then plug in to your OBD2 connector. If no codes are present, you have passed the test. They no longer run a dynomometer test on OBD2 cars. Also, you can not just remove the light in the dash to cover up a check engine light. They will turn the car's key on first to make sure the check engine light lights up, before plugging in to the connector.
