I don't know if it will really decrease/incresase performance on a basically stock car, so much as it will be very loud and throaty when you rev the car... some people think it is pretty annoying, as you lose a deal of the deep tone...
at least that is my opinion

Personally... I would rather have no muffler than no resonator. You know those honda civic bee fart cans.... most dont have resonators... and sound like ass.
getting performance? i would think you get more performance out of deleting your cats and picking up a louder tone in doing that.
what about put a glasspack in place of the res. and keep old muffler, or upgrade muffler?

You won't lose any performance, but you won't gain, either.
I did it on a 4cyl Altima, and (at least on that car) the sound didn't change much (I also had a header, high-flow cat, and larger pipe), but what happened was that at certain PRMs, the exhaust got much louder - my assumption was that the resonator was there to tame the sound at those specific RPMs.
so what, you put on a glasspack? hey, i could just get the glasspack put on, and keep the resonator in case it dosent work like i want it to.

Hey guys, I have a coupe of questions, my next serious mod to my 99 l4 is a complete exhaust system. I was told getting rid of resonator will increase flow thus performance??? I was looking into headers hi flow cat, straight pipe with an exhaust from HKS. So should I be looking for a resonator because over all my goal of all this is power and sound a deep sound which I think would set the car off?????
