PowerStop, PowerSlot, Brembo, Cross-Drilled, Slotted, WTF...????

Sup guys...

I've been thinking of changing my 4 brake rotors in my Camry.. It's a 1998 V6..

I've seen PowerSlot, PowerStop and Brembo rotors...

I know Brembo rotors are very good.. They are Brembo, of course...

Has anyone heard or read about PowerStop or PowerSlot cross-drilled, slotted and drilled/slotted rotors...??

How good are they, etc....

What would be a good buy and which brake pads would match..??

Also, does changing stock brake lines to stainless steel aftermarkets make a noticeable difference..???

Sorry for so many questions... Thanks for the help...

IMO Brembo are good, but overpriced

IMO the slotted and/or drilled rotors are NOT worth the money, I have owned both and they do nothing to improve braking in even agressive street driving

YES - the steel braided lines will increase the pedal feel and modulation

For bang for the buck, I really like the Raybestos PG Plus rotors (you can get them from www.rockauto.com)

I like the Hawk HPS pads, and the Raybestos PG pads, Akkebono, the Axxis Metal Master pads and a couple others I seem to be forgetting. AVOID EBC pads for street use, again, simply not worth the money, the performance isn't there.

A good pad on a quality blank is all you need unless you are racing on a track. There is a good bit of difference in the pads I listed above. Raybestos and Akkebono would be OEM replkacements and for normal street. The Hawk would be a step up, the Axxis would be a step up again.

Cant speak for the others but my Brembo Drilled are nice. Cept my rears are using some cheapo ceramics and its making some noise. At least thats what my mechanic says is the problem. I have Akebono ceramics in front. THey are excellent.

I would NOT get the slotted Rotors if it's only for street use. Slotted rotors wear out the brake pad dramatically. Cross drilled are better however it does not help reduce braking distance by much. Instead, it's used more to reduce heat on the rotors. A good match for braked pads on any application either Slotted or Cross-drilled even Brembo blanks would be any Ceramic brake. Hard rotors require a hard material for braking or else you'll run into problems. Also when looking for brake pads it's good to look for pads with heat dissipating features such as grooves or even vents. Stainless brake lines should not make a big difference if your existing brake lines are in good condition.

Thanks for all the replies guys...

I'm really interested in either drilled and slotted combined or cross-drilled only.... I
think either should improve my braking at least a bit...

Which of these would be better..??

I will search for good ceramic brake pads too...

No they won't, the only effect it will have is to lighten your wallet. A crossdrilled and/or slotted rotor is about twice the cost of a quality blank rotor.

I have said this before in many a brake thread on TN, to anyone who claims better stopping distance, better braking, less fade, etc, etc, etc please post a link to some professional test reults to prove it.

I have never seen any. Not even from the makers of the products.

If you want better braking, buy better tires.
