Anyone know how to get this out?

Need Help Pls.



From this picture, you can see a housing that needs to be replaced. But i can not take it out because there is this thing in the way. I looked it up on every manual i can find but I still can't honestly identify it. The housing is on the tranny and the LH drive axle slides into it. It will come out, but only if this other item on the left, possibly a shift solenoid, is removed or at least the cover is taken off. Can anyone please give me some info on how to get this object out of the way so i can remove the axle housing?
This car is a 94 camry, 4cyl, automatic

Ok. I really feel stupid now. Being overly cautious, I wanted to ask for some assitance on taking this thing out. I went back in there, and carefully pryed around with a screwdriver and this thing just fell out. I soon had a good splash of about 1 quart of ATF oil which i probably deserved for being overly cautious.
