Hi everyone, I have a Gen 4.5 Camry. I hope this isn't a stupid question, but for some reason, I recently noticed that if I unlock the door from the inside the alarm doesn't go off, I'm almost sure it did before. Maybe I just have keyless entry? But would the alarm still go off if someone tries to break into my car? Is there anything I can do to check which kind of alarm I have?
If you arm the system while inside and open the door, the alarm will go off if you have one - that's usually the "test" that people do. Either that or something is wrong and your alarm is too insensitive.

There is a Sensor called a Rock sensor which senses Shock to your car. If your car alarm is not connected to your pwr locks or windows then it wont go off. On where this device is placed I have no Idea you have to ask the person that placed it in your car.

^ there is a central brain which the Rock sensor and other applications are linked to such as the power locks.
Theres MECP (mobile electronics certification program), but I never bothered with it. Its just a piece of paper anyways, it doesn't mean you know how to install.
While we're on the topic, my '91 has an autolock feature (locks the doors every time the ignition is turned on, and unlocks them when it's turned off) It's annoying as hell, and I want to disable it without losing the aftermarket keyless entry installed on it...

Factory alarms are useless, if somebody breaks the window and unlocks the door it doesn't go off. My boss can verify this as it happened to his 2003 Tundra recently.

Do you know what kind of alarm it is?
I know the Vipers, Hornets, and Phytons do that. I think theres a way to disable it, but I don't remember. Been along time since I've installed one.
