Before I waste my money on a a/f sensor

hey guys, need your help here. about 3 months ago my engine light went on and gave me a p1133 error code and the gas cap code. I replaced gas cap and both o2 sensors (univeral denso's from sparkplugs.com). I soldered and used heat shrink tube. Well the damn engine light went on and I failed emissions due to code P1133! NOW this is the thing. I am located in NY but the emissions tag under the hood says it is CALI state emissions. SO wehn I looked under the sparkplugs.com system under cali state it shows A/F sensor for the front. It seems I bought the WRONG one due to me thinking it wasnt a cali ready car. So before I blow $146, can you guys confirm this??

thanks!
Ralph

P1133 is the code for the heater element for the O2 sensor, rather than an actual emissions problem. I went through this with a mitsubishi eclispe awhile back.

The fed-spec part was about $40 cheaper than the cali-spec part, but with no explanation as to why that is. They were both 4 wire sensors, so they should both have the heating element, I would think.

In any event, I think the only thing the ECU does for the heater circuit is measure the resistance of the heating circuit itself to make sure the circuit is not open. My guess would be that either the o2 is wired incorrectly, or one of the solder points has come loose.
When you replaced the sensors the first time, how long were you without any check engine codes?

thanks for the reply, that same day the codes came back but I tought it was becuase the gas tenant didnt close my cap properly. considering it was an orig cap I bought a new one to. I cant see the wires coming loose, they were crimped well. I rememebvr there being 2 black wires a white one and a blue one??? MAYBE I reversed the black ones??? Is there a way to test it?? code 1133 means the ENGINE one right? now the back one under car?

thanks!
Ralph
P.S my MPG did drop alot when I did this!
