Code P0110?

Hey guys, I've been going crazy troubleshooting a problem. I so far I've changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, TPS. I've got spark and I definitly have fuel! (I opened the fuel line from the filter while turning over... fuel everywhere) I borrowed a code scanner and now I have code P 0110. I pulled the EFI relay while checking the code so I'm guessing that's what this code is for. Funny thing is that I put the relay back and I still have the code!

I sure could use some help here. I might just change the relay since I've changed just about everything else!

Thanks!

On the right side of your airfilter box is a round rubber grommet with the Intake Air Temperature sensor (IAT) in it. Unplug and clean it and the connections.

The PO110 indicates an open or short in the air temp circuit or the IAT sensor itself may be bad. If the IAT sensor fails then the ECM goes into fail safe mode.

You can resistance test the IAT sensor in a pot of hot water with a thermometer and an OHM meter. At 68 degrees your should read 2-4 kohms. At 104 about 1-2 kohms.

This is no doubt related to your earlier posted problem.

Well, I'm ready to throw in the towel. I've cleaned the IAT sensor and gave it a whirl and it still won't fire up! I just know when I take it to a "real" mechanic, he's going to find something simple! Grrrrrrr! I think my wife will like me a lot more once I have it towed to a good shop. Now to find an honest shop!

Cleaning a "bad" sensor won't help it. It's just an attempt to clean and check for poor connections and corrosion before resistance testing it to determine if the sensor is bad.

The Toyota guy will plug in his advanced OBDII scan tool and troubleshoot it in 1 minute.

The PO110 indicates an open or short in the air temp circuit or "the IAT sensor itself may be bad."

Good luck!

The car should still start up and run with a bad IAT sensor. You probably have more than one problem.

Somebody shoot me! I just bought a new IAT sensor. I was sooooo looking forward to trying it. I figured that a tow truck would cost at least a hundred bucks to tow it 5 miles, so what's another $60? I'm about to go nutz!

I guess you didn't resistance test the old one? Stop guessing and throwing parts at it! Diagnosis first.

I'll be heading back to San Diego in a few months. Put some more parts on it and I'll take it off your hands!

They take the part back if you look sad and dejected.

You're right I should have tested it. Last night I was so frustrated, that I didn't read the test through! Pretty simple test! I'm sure that Autozone would take the part back, but I bought this one from the dealer. Oh well, we'll see what happens.

Of course, that didn't change anything. It's off to the shop for sure now! Lesson learned.

I really hate to bring this up from the dead, especially as my first post. BUT WTF WAS THE PROBLEM!?

This is EXACTLY what my '01 Tacoma is doing (2.4 5sp) and I'm about to light it on fire out of frustration. P0100 code and P0110 code. It just did it out of the blue and now I can't get sh*t out of it. Has gas, has air, has fire. WTF.

PLEASE help me out here, I cannot afford to take it somewhere.
