I know the discussion of a manual swap has been beaten to death, but this is more cost related...
I just got my job lined up for the summer and have been working on campus, so I know that I am going to have an increase in funds very soon Ive just got a question for all of you guys that have done auto to manual swaps in your camry, specifically gen 3s- whats a ballpark price I can expect to pay for all of the parts?
I know it fluctuates a lot as far as where you get the parts etc, and Im sure Id be doing a nice clutch, lightened flywheel, pedals, short shift, and all that good stuff too... so I know that adds to it as well, but if anyone can give me a rough price for what they paid in american thatd be sweet
my bad, 5sfe... i also just want the stock manual tranny for the 5sfe, none of the beefier ones- dont need to go anything crazy and I have no plans for forced induction
ive never done a gen 5 and wouldnt want to put my approval on something that isnt totally known. ive worked on gen 3 from top to bottom, so i can confidently say that i know whats up. lol.
I think zoni in the future will be doing it no? also (not to drive awa your business) a guy in NC can do it too, he quoted me $1300 with labor for bare bottom parts about 1800 with better, but probably will change, hes found celicatech as Dr Tweak
well it is fairly labor intensive since you have to cut the hole for the clutch master cylinder and drill holes for the 2 bolts for the master cylinder.
i'd do a swap for someone now if they wanted it, and live around here.
