pulley system

I want to know people's thoughts on this. Could it be possible to design a pulley system that was smaller then stock but yet everything would fuction better. This would obviously create less drag on the engine and provide more underdrive, thus letting the engine not creat more power, but take exsiting power and place it in other areas. So the egnine would be more effinciant. I know for a fact they work on other cars, because underdrive pulley's are on the market for many cars. My only experiecne was on my friends Neon, he installed a MPx pulley and gained .3 in the 1/4. Now his car climbs through RPMS quicker and harder. Maybe it would be possible to used a underdrive system designed for the 2.2? The crank is probably bigger, but a pulley is aluminum and could be bored out. Or the altenator and ac/ps pulleys may be the same. I don't know if the 2.2 is similar as far as the 3l but its an idea. If anyone is goin to have a fast camry it's going to take ideas and thoughts. This may not work AT ALL, but somebody have any thoughts.

Does no one have a thought on this. Like it says if we as camry owners do not what to experiment and now different answers to even a question like this then we will never have really fast camrys.

this sounds like a contridiction.

i'm no expert, but i think what your saying by using a pulley off a larger engine so the accesories in your car work as good would not work. u cannot trick your engine, if using a smaller pulley the better for performance, if larger, it means the accersories will get the power. maybe i didn't understand correctly what u were saying?

man, i dont think that you understand. Well i just want to now if the 2.2l pulley will fit my crank shaft of my 3.0l. I would not prusume that it will just fit withough any boring or anything, but if i were to say buy it and bore it if possable and put it on my crankshaft would it work with all the rest of my accessories. Would it be big enough to handle enough power to make the rest of my electrical system work and all.

Or even better is there anyone who would be interested in makeing a 3.0l pulley system for a gen3. Im sure im not the only one who would be interested.

oh ok your saying that you want a smaller pulley (off a 2.2) for your 3L engine. fair enough, i don't see why it wouldn't if you drilled it out or whatever. i got confused where you were saying having a smaller pulley that would make the accecories work better. i'd say go to a junkyard and have a look at the 5s-fe crank pulley and see how it relates to your own, and hey the mounting might be similar.

i will have to go do that, you dont now off hand if there is a big difference in the size of the crank or not do you? Also do you think that the accessories will still work properly. Underdrive pulleys are designed spicificley small enough to free up as much hp as possable and still let your other accessories run properly. Do the 2.2l and 3.0l have the same accessorie specs, if you can understand that.

Not sure about the size difference but you could start with this and see what you get, good luck
