3rd Generation Check Engine Light

Hi I am new to the forums My name is RObert i also have a check engine light on the 1996 camry it seems that in idle the rpm's drops a tad below 800 rpms the car will shake slightly and quickly rise to 900 rpm then the shaking will stop but also under the check engine light there is another light on with the shape of the car looks like it is indicating tail lights but all my lights are working fine. I know know what could poosibly be wrong. the car runs very smoothly just cant figure it out.
Any ideas would be appreicated

for the car light dont forget about the middle back light inside the car....not just the tail lights. as for the idle problems first take it to an autozone or sumthing and have them hook it up to an OBD-2 reader, thats the best place to start. its most likely an IAC problem of some kind but then again who knows.

Flash, before you pull codes (the next step) check all the vacuum hoses on the engine carefully. Sounds like you could just have a simple vacuum leak. Examine the hoses carefully and make sure they are all plugged in and not popped loose from their fitting. Look for cracked and broken hoses too, usually at bends is where they crack. Replace any bad hoses with new.
