4th Generation Steering pump making noise...

Whenever I turn the wheel more than about 40 degrees either way, the pump makes a buzzing noise... Does this mean its a bad pump or just the fluid is low? How do I check the fluid and where is the pump located?

It's a 97 camry LE gen 4 i think

Thanks

Probably that the fluid is low. Resivoir is on the left, next to the coolant. Its in your owners manual.

Check the fluid first. More than likely it is the cause. The PS pumps on Toyotas seem to leak after a decent amount of mileage. I jsut had to replace the pump and rack on my 94 with 85k miles on it. I have also noticed some seepage from the pump on my Sienna withthe same V6 engine in it.
