Gen5 Oil Change

Hi

Do I need special tool SST 09228-07501 just to change the oil. I read the online repair manual and it states using this tool to tighten/loosen the filter. Is this necessary?

Also, where is the drain hole for the oil. Is the drain hole the filter itself? The instructions aren't too clear.

Thanks

NO you do not have to have the SST to change the oil. It is a tool taht goes over the end of the oil filter to act as a socket sorta. You should be abele to loosen it by hand.

as for the drain plug it is on the bottom of the oil pan. Crawl under the car and you will see a 14mm bolt on the backside/botttom of the pan. Remove it and watch out because the oil drains fast.
