O/D off light blinking 1x/2 sec

I have a '91 Camry DX 4 cyl. My daughter hit speed bump at low speed, but bottomed out anyway hitting the tranny pan and putting hole in it. (Turns out a front tire was real low.) She drove a mile or so before she realized she was loosing power. When I arrived, the transmission oil was dripping out pretty fast.
Had it towed to my mechanic who replaced the pan and the oil but said there was no damage to the tranny. The tranny oil hadn't been replaced in forever. Since I picked up the car it has the following problems.
1. O/D off light blinks steadily once/2 sec. after driving for about 1 1/2 minutes. This morning the weather was colder (40s) and it took 4-5 min before it started blinking.
2. It doesn't shift into 2nd gear. Goes right from 1st to 3rd. I can manually hit 2nd but it doesn't hit it automatically.
3. It does not appear to go into overdrive at all reqardless of the position of the overdrive button.
4. Stomping on the accelerator does not cause it to downshift.

Its got 200K on the clock so I can't see replacing the transmission. The engine is still in great shape. Doesn't use oil, etc.

Anyone have a suggestion on where to start diagnosing? I saw another post which talked about some type of diagnosis tool at Autozone. Could you elaborate a little?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I had this aswell. The flashing means that there is a problem with an electrically related part of the transmission. So, it could be NSS, Shift solenoids, ECT ECU or transmission display.

I am wondering if the '91 Camry gives diagnostic codes by the O/D off light like the later models. All it does at this points is blink steadily. With the diagnostic unit jumpered, the CEL blinks steadily when the transmission is in neutral or park but gives 51 if it is in any gear. The O/D light doesn't give any codes.

Does anyone know this tranny?

Thanks, JetspeedCamry and Atobe,
From what you say, it sounds pretty clear that one of the shift solenoids is bad. The one that controls 2nd and 4th. Thats a great help!

I'll come back and let you know once it's resolved.

It may have just knocked off the wire. But you'll have to drop the pan to really check.
