4th Generation Check Engine Light Question

I just had my exhaust redone about 2 weeks ago on my 97 Camry 4 cyl. It's 2.25" pipe straight to muffler - no cat converter. The check engine light came on about 4 days after I had all this done. Took it to autozone and it was O2 sensor from removing cat. Then the light went out about 2 days later and then came back on yesterday. I figured it would come on, but is there a way to keep the light off? I've checked older threads, but it all has to do with emmissions (I don't have to worry about that yet). Any info is always appreciated!

You could buy an o2 simulator to falsely tell the computer that the emissions are fine.

It's not legal in in the US if you drive on public roads, but then again neither is removing the catalytic converter.

Awesome! I read about them but wasn't sure if they were universal or what. Prob be ordering one tomorrow! Hoping to get it on before I get my engine work done( replace valve stem seals, hopefully port and polish for more power!) Don't need mechanic tryin to charge me for new O2 sensor.

Just so you know its against federal law to tamper or remove any emission control devices such as the converter. Not likely you would get caught, but if i remember right the fines are pretty stiff.
