its not too hard, its just a bit time consuming...
i did it when i had my Gen3 before
basically, you have to remove the centre console (the big section around the gear shifter), and when you get that out, you can now get to the two screws holding the cupholder from the back
I can't seem to be able to remove this. Any of you removed it and could tell me?
It would be easier to get to the screws to do so by removing the front half of the console, I recently sold a front half and while cleaning it I saw how the drink tray was attached!....I didn't take it apart tho!...hope this helps some!

Yea, I had the sigs of, cause my computer was movin slow for a while, and when I tried to cut them back on, It would not save the preference. Just like my invisible mode.
its simple:
1. Open the center arm rest
2. Remove the underside carpet inside the arm rest
3. Remove two screws (downside) that hold the armrest in
4. With the armrest now out you will see the other two screws that hold teh back of the cup holder.
