3rd Generation Half-shaft won't budge

I'm down at a friends house working on my '96 Camry. All I need to do is put new brakes on and a new half shaft (started to clunk). I got everything apart okay until it was time to take the half-shaft out. I too out the snap ring and the lock nut, gave it a tug and nothing happened. I've tried prying at it, using a slide hammer, heating it up with a propane torch, everything, to no avail.

I got another friend who works on cars and puts in half-shafts. He heated it up and pried on it. He says the bearing in there is having trouble coming out, it's all siezed up. The shaft will rotate but the bearing will not come out of the bracket. What can I do to get this out? I've already been stuck here one night because I can't drie anywhere. Is there something i'm missing? Or some easier way to get the half-shaft out?

Thanks!

Usually the heat method is the best for getting the bearing out of the motor mount bracket. However, you can unbolt the motor mount and take that out with the half shaft. then once it is all out, you can work on getting it off of the mount bracket away from the car where the heat could get dangerous.
