Hello, first post here...
I'm currently bidding on OEM mudguards for my '05 LE... my question is do the rear ones require drilling? searched for some posts on this, but none of them specifically mentioned the 05. if they do require drilling, is there some sort of paste i need to apply to the holes to prevent rusting?
thanks for the replies! unfortunatley i don't have the mudguards yet ...
but i do notice that there are two holes in the rear, but they seem to be situated a bit too far into the wheel well to be for the mudguards...
anybody else have any experience with installing OEM mudguards?
The mudguards I bought for my 02 required drilling some holes in the rear. You will drill the holes in the rear plastic bumper cover, so there shouldn't be any rusting.
The front ones you use or replace the existing screws.
These were for the Toyota color matched set, I dunno about the black ones, I assume they're similar though.
Technically you need to drill. I got around it this way. Snugged the rear guards up to the body and marked the cover. Slid the supplied screw retainers over the cover, centering them under the marked spots. Held the mud guard up and with an 18V drill and a nut driver just spun the bolt till it grabbed into the cover and screwed them right in. It took me longer to get the wheels off than put the mudguards on. Piece of cake.
