Supra Head Unit in Camry?

I know it will bolt up but does anyone know if a head unit from a MKIV Supra(94) will work in a 97 camry? I want to buy one for the cd player part. Maybe i can hook up some ghetto rigged sub later.

But yea, does anyone know?

why do you u want the Supra headunit??? just buy the Camry Headunit from eBay, couple of them got 6 IN DASH CD or even MP3 Compatible.

sure u can put the Supra's headunit on the camry, you just need to do some soldering and splicing goodluck!

Unless your stock system or the Supra system has an external amp, the stereos are plug and play. Toyota has not changed the stereo harness since the late 1980s.

You can adapt any HU to fit any car. It just wires that you have to splice... most (or all?) HU's are universal DIN sized, so it will fit no probs.

Not trying to start an argument but not all head units are the same DIN size, there are actually a lot of different sizes depending on make and year of the car if im not mistaken...

Actually, the bolts on all single-DIN and double-DIN headunits are the same. The problem arises with the face of the headunit, and in certain cars that have tightly fit trim around the hu, some radios might not fit.

Well, after 1984, All cars are manufactured with DIN standard mounting and sizing. The actual housings of headunits are made roughly equal. 50mmx180mm = 1DIN. The depth of HU's are non-standard. Thats not to say that it will fit EASILY. As said, the problem arisies with different designs, causing the face to not sit flush and that jazz. However, the mounting brackets should all fit in one way or another. Especially if it's another Toyota!, since this is what the topic is about .

I'd rather have a stock HU with a CD player than an aftermarket one. I just don't want somebody breaking into my car for a lousy 100 dollar CD player i'd install. Not worth it IMHO.

nope toyota changed the wire connections between 96 and 97, unless you have the amp maybe, and the face trim is smaller in the 97+ than the 96.
