need help please!!!!

my buddy from other state about to sold he's rims for me and i need help if the rims will be fit correctly on mine is gen 4/2000 the rims brand is nippon racing 17"x7" with bolt pattern is 5x114.3 is that mean 5 lug??
take off from he's car is 2000 eclipse gt.need help if this will be fit on my gen 4/2000 before i sent the money to him.thank you.!!

yes they are 5 lug.
5x 114.3 = lugs x bolt pattern
i dont know if thats the right bolt pattern for a gen4 but i know it is for a gen3 . they will fit mine. most likely they will fit.

The offset is the distance from the rim's mounting surface to the centerline.

i just saw i the back of the rims it said : germany, 17x7 and 38 so i hope the 38 is the offset and hopefully will fit fine on my 2000.also what is the best for look and performances size for the tires between 215/40/17 or 215/45/17 i really want to stay away from 205 cause to low profile and have bad experience in the past!

You got your tire terminology all mixed up.

1st number = width of the tire.

2nd number = aspect ratio. Its a percentage of the 1st number (width). So 215/40/17 = 40 percent of 215.

3rd number = diameter of tire.

thank's much ! just got my tires from ebay used is michelin pilot HX MXM 225/45/ ZR17 with 6/32nd tread for $80.00 for all 4.yes kind lucky the seller accept my offer summer is coming so is perfect cause i went to tirerack and they said is handle awesome for accellarate and cornering on dry pavement and just oke on wet condition.
now i wondering and hope the tires will fit nicely on the rims without any issues
how much is usualy they charge for mounting and balancing to install it!
