intake filter question..

ok this is a very stupid question. you know how the stock air filter is. with the rubber tube attached to the big ol' retangler shape filter.. well i was wondering if i can just take out the box and replace it with a cone head filter. well i did it and it works lol but i dont see that much of a difference. and it sounds funny.. is the sound normal? is it okay? safe? oh yeah and the lil sensor thing..is it important?

Whatever you did, I would say reverse it. Of course, the sensor is important. It helps regulate the correct air/gas mixture. In my honest opinion, change the filter to a cone filter is a waste of money and you wont gain any horse power. If you do, it's not noticable.

I4 or V6?

I have an I4 with a SRI from ebay...If you have a 4 banger might as well get a SRI instead of putting a cone at the end.

Here's pic of mine:

imho, if you're gonna put in any effort in the intake area, you might as well do a cai, it helps gas mileage, throttle response, and while some debate the hp gains, it may do that as well. and the sensor is very important. it's really quite easy to do, and i'm sure plenty of us on here would be willing to help you in the process.
