Intake=Decreased gas mileage?

I was wondering if getting an intake for my 96 1mz-fe would result in a big decrease in gas mileage. A friend of mine had an intake on his 94 accord and he took it off due to a large decrease in gas mileage. I know its not the same for all cars so i was wondering if that would happen to mine.

Having any sort of "performance"-geared add-on will create a placebo effect in the mind that the car will be faster, so thus, more pedal to the metal.

Inatkes are suppsoed to improve gas mileage, it is beacuse of the constant hitting the gas that makes the gas mileage go down

makes total sence dude

a/f mixture is done by weight, now cold winter air weighs a lot more than warm summer air, so for your 15:1 ratio, you need more gas, for the same weight of air... gas also changes weight per volume for temperature, so your injectors firing the same volume, are actually throwing away more mollecules of gas

yeah but you get lots more power in the winter with the colder air and on top of that the extra fuel your motor will spray.

its -20C up here and the roads are dry...... i feel an extra 20hp

-20C = Slippery road

cold air is better for performance, but just because its -20 out side does not mean you will get better performance then when its 60 out. It cant be to cold or it will hurt performance, just like if its to warm. Theres a happy medium.

i disagree man ... you want the coldest air possible.

and what i mean by the roads being dry is that theres was no snow.
