Gen5 Every 4,500 miles, a "maintenance required" indicator light

Does the Carmy 2002 have this annoying "maintenance required" indicator light that comes on every 5000 miles?

Thanks

and if they do, it'd not hard to reset the light. there are tutorials around here.

^ That's what makes it so annoying - the fact that you have to do that to make the light go away. Some people don't want to have the reminder and would rather it just not appear or have a way to turn it off permanently. Some people follow their maintenance schedule regardless if the light comes on or not.

True. But..I bet most people *don't* remember to change their oil and whatever other things need to be done routinely. You have to remember that the Camry's target audience are people who want a car with comfort and convenience - so in that respect, it's perfect.

I agree, but for those who do not want a reminder and know when to do their maintenance, there should be a disable feature. Besides, some people won't do it regardless of the indicator.

My brother is a perfect example of someone that does NO maintenance to his 2002 camry xle v6. He has 42,000 miles on it and he only changed his oil twice. I am suprised that the thing even runs.

The light doesn't bother me, however, I agree 100% there should be a simple way to turn it off or on to suit the owners needs.

Just like the seat belt alarm can turn off/on

Just like the black box should also have an off/on (even though I havn't figured it out yet)

When will auto makers get the message that people like to have control over the things they buy, especially something as expensive as a car.

yeah i know the whole 5 or 6 seconds it takes to reset the light is "SO ANNOYING"
It's a good thing to have, cuz half he customers i see rolling through the shop wait until the light turns on to maintence their car. Toyota is just covering their ass and I can't blame them. There is alot worse things then reseting the maintence light on a toyota
If its so annoying then sell your car and get an 03

To me, it's annoying and that's just a personal opinion. And I'm not going to sell the car because of that. Besides I already got my answer to my original question about 5 post ago.

Dont you reset it when you get an oil change, that light reminds you to change your Oil once you hit 4500 miles if you have not done so. Each time you do a oil change i believe u reset the counter rather the light is on or off.
