can i wire in a 3sgte ecu into my car since it already knows what to do with boost?
i'm still going to use my 5sfe motor but i want to use the 3sgte ecu. is there anything stopping me from doing that?
You should be able to keep your 5sfe one. Once you're boostin, get a 3sgte ems. I mean, 3sgte base boost shouldn't be too much more than 7psi that the engine can already handle
I completely disagree with everyone except Fred....it will not work!! You cannot just put an ecu from another engine, with COMPLETELY different mappings and expect it to work...even if you did customize the pinout!!! It's like me trying to put a 5VZ-FE ECU into m 2VZ-FE powered car because the 5vzfe is "larger" and would accomodate more fueling...not gna happen!

they are for the same family of engine and the pinouts wouldnt be a problem.
Well their both S series engines, but they are different.
You can't just slap on a ECU for a different motor and expect it to work with your motor. Even if you did get it to work, the fuel & ignition timing maps would be wrong.
Both motors have different fuel requirements, ignition timing, and airflow characteristics.
You want to play with ECUs and tuning, buy a aftermarket standalone.

I plan on running a stock map on a standlone AEM EMS for the 3sgte on a stock MAP until I get dyno tested and boosted. Since everything is fully programmable, there shouldn't be any problem of this kind on a 5sfe ecu should there? I'm just wondering what I should do about the OBDII...

Crank triggering will be a problem if the AEM is set up for the 3s-gte and you use it on the 5s-fe. Good luck, I hope you or your shop are REALLY good with wiring/electronics and custom work.
