Hi guys, I'm happy to join this community.
Got a 95 Camry I4 that I bought like a year ago - by the way, it's a great car - with 116,000 miles now. I took it yesterday to my mechanic and said that the rear struts are in pretty bad shape and need replacement. I was thinking of replacing all 4 of them. I've been thinking of buying TOKICO blue struts from Ebay ($347). And about the springs, my mechanic says that the stock springs that I have wouldn't be a problem in keeping. My question is, do I need new springs? at what point my springs can fail on me? like how many more miles the springs can take? And if there is going to be a difference between having the stock springs and the aftermarket ones like EIBACH. What is the difference between the EIBACH, H&R, KSport, Tenzo and those other springs on Ebay? Is it worth spending $100 more on EIBACH or H&R? And which of those springs are the best? I'm looking for good springs that will last me as long as my Camry can go if stock ones are not enough. Oh, my mechanic says that he will charge me $200 for the work if I decide to change all 4 of them, is it a good price? What would someone else normally charge? He's been a really good mechanic with my family. I will appreciate any help I can get, thanks guys.
BTW, I do a lot of driving to Miami like 40 miles to get to school and another 40 to come back home, drive to college 4 days a week, so far the Springs that I have in mind are the EIBACH or the KSport from Ebay, is it a good idea to lower the car with the springs? Thanks guys
lowering is ur choice
110k miles, springs are prolly starting to wear.. so since ur paying labor to change the sturts, how about doing the springs at the same time so you don' thave to spend 200$ for labor again when u do springs.. right ?
stiffer springs just helps body roll just a little bit.. lowering the center of gravity also helps body roll
u do a lot of driving.. tokico and springs will make ur ride rough.. so if ur ok with that i would go for springs too cause i mean.. haha iunno.. just no point in spending 200$ later on when ur springs get all effed.

Don't know anything about KSport, but the Eibach Pro Kit is a progressive rate spring, so it'll have a nicer ride than just a standard stiff spring. If you're replacing the suspension just to replace the suspension, I would just put the struts in it. My '94 has a little over 200,000 miles on her and the springs are fine. Got a few trips back and forth to Florida from Jersey. If you're that worried about the springs, call a Toyota dealer and order the factory springs.

I think I'll go with the Eibach Pro Kit. I have a Strut Tower Bar in my car, what other strut are you talking about? and how much more could it cost? Thanks
i have tenzos springs on mine and their dropped 2 inches
but i go for the eibachs because they lower the front 1.2 inch and rear 2.0 inch
mine is 2 inchs ll around
and gens 3 tends to have a high front fender so what happened after i lowered it was one finger gap rear and 3 finger gap front
so i think eibachs will be the right choice
plus from my experience with the 2 inch drop u tend to bottom out alot
but eibachs are always safe and it worth your money
as for the shocks i recomend kyb
or possibly other adjustable ride high shocks if any
just dont do what i did
lower with springs and stock shocks.
my budget total was one hundred for springs and 200 for installation and alignment
and the shocks will run u about 300-350 for some kyb
id say try to keep it under 1k
unless you want some adjustable coil overs.....
sigh
