4th Generation QUESTION check engine light

ok the codes for my gen 4 01' 5sfe are the usual retarded evap codes everyone gets (P0440 Evaporative Emission System, P0441 Evaporative Emission System Incorrect Purge Flow, and P0446 Evaporative Emission System Vent Control Circuit) well the thing is if we dont do anything to the engine.. will it matter? does it cause bad gas milage? hard your engine? what im basically wondering is if its actually necessary because my car runs fine.. so yeah.

It basically means your evaporative system wont work. It will not have any effect on the way your engine runs, assuming the malfunctioning vsv(s) are stuck in the closed possition. Of course you will have no chance of passing the emission test.

Probably not but the problem comes in if the engine throws a code such as a random missfire that could cause problems(such as burning the cat out) then he would not know because he is used to the light being on all the time.
Best bet is to get it fixed now before you have more/bigger problems!
