Stereo Reset

Hello everyone,
just bought a 96 camry LE 4 banger with 155K on it.
car is super upgrade from my 92 rolla and feels golden.
but this is a rental car and shows the typical rental abuse.
Let me start off with the stereo.THis is a OEm toyota casette radio type unit;
The LCD dispaly has been smashed into and the manual says
that it may stop functioning if the batt is disconnected 10 times.(I gotto
disconnect the battery for a lot of stuff)
I dont have the code (plus I cant even see the display) to set a new code.
is there a hard reset somewhere on the car body so that I can follow the
manual thro' a new code even if i cant see it?
other than that car has the shakes and jiggles that I noticed many seem
to have in the forums.....another problem another day.

Any ideas for the stereo ?
Thx

you pretty much ahve to pull the radi oand call a dealer withthe serial number to get the code.

You say it is a rental and it is a 96. SOmeone had to have been driving it for the last ten years can you get in touch with them to get the code.

also the only time a code will be needed is if it is the upgraded stereo. Is the car an XLE trim level. Does it have tweeters inteh door handle pulls. If so then it will most likely have hte upgraded stereo that might need a code.

You may also want to look through the manual to see if you can find a random number in there somewhere. IF you find a 4 digit number then it is more than likely the radio code. well ti may be a three digit number I cant rememember for sure

car is an LE.No tweeters.unfortunately car is with my friend right now so i cant go back to see ifif it is a premium audio.
But if it is as simple as calling some dealer and asking for a code(without sinking any dollar) I might do it.
The previous owner did not wirte down anything .
Thanks
I will post as soon as I see something

If it is a LE then more than liley it is jsut the standard radio which means it does not have a code. When you get to the car again jsut look at the face plate of it and see if there is a key emblem on the front of it. If there is then it has a reset code if no key then it will be fine without having to worry about a code.
