broke off bleeding screw.

i managed to break off the bleeding screw, so half of it is still stuck inside the caliber. Does this mean i need a new caliper? If i do, how much does it cost? i have a 99 camry 4 cyl.

uh oh...you just might, since hte screw is kind of small to drill and tap to get out...

is there even any little bit left sticking out? if there is, you can use a set of pliers to get it out eventually....

and a rebuild caliper usually costs around $100, some a bit more expensive

Like ey8 said if there is a small bit of it sticking out then you can probably get it out with a pair of pliers. Otherwise you can try to wedge something into the center of the bleeder and try turing it out that way. Something like an easy out but I dont think they make them that small. SO maybe an old drill bit or something taht will catch on the inside ot the bleeder that you can then turn it out.

It ould be the same as drilling out a bolt in teh center and then turning it out with an easy out.

Hope that makes sense.

Use a mini screw reverser in the bleed hole. Your turn it in anti clock wise, its a reverse thread so it will start screwing into it, and when it locks, you should be able to just unscrew the leftover bit of screw. Watch you don't get any shavings down into the caliper though.

I have had that happen before.

Once I drilled the bleed screw a bit and hamered in an offset robertson screwdriver and that managed to back out the screw.

I know have a couple of reverse countersink bits that do this well.

Sometimes a left handed drill bit will help walk it out but beware of metal chips going into the caliper no matter what you use!
