Rattling noises are never good. Check to see where it's coming from. Start your car, open your hood and put your ear right next to the left side of the engine where all the belts are. If the noise comes from somewhere inside the engine, it may possibly and probably be your timing belt. And to tell you, the belt alone will cost you upwards of $100 and if you don't know how to install it yourself, guess how long it'll take to install one, consider your tech. has to pratically dismantle your car. And with time costs money, I believe my last mechanic charged (as low as) *35/1/2hour.
btw. this info is based on 2.2 L 4 cyl models, but i'm sure it applies to most 1996+ camrys
