trunk lock broken (won't turn)

Anyone out there has any experience in replacing a "trunk lock cylinder" which won't turn. Also, what's the process to getting it keyed to the original key. Would a locksmith be able to do this or do I have to take to a toyota dealer. I hate to think what they would charge. Thx!

Mine turns sometimes, but I need to jiggle the key.
Does your lock cylinder not work at all?

I have some lock lube that I've been meaning to spray in there to see if it fixes anything. If I remember to use it tomorow, I post what happens.

i have the same problem.. the key actually wont go all the way in.. as if someone tried to pick it and left something in there.. i just left it becasue i never use the key in the trunk anyways...there is a metal rod attaching the key lock to the actual trunk lock/clip... i tried removing that to completely disable the key lock.. bad idea, there is a spring in the key lock that keeps pressure on something in the lock/clip and the trunk will NOT open with the handle inside the car if you remove it.. since my camry is a 98 it doesnt have the safety release for the poor passenger in your trunk so i had to get into the trunk and take it apart...

Trunk Lock - more problems

Talked to a Locksmith. He told me to remove the lock and to bring it in. He may be able to fix it. If he removed it, it would cost me $25. I removed the clip and rod with no problem. But, it wouldn't come out. Here's the problem: The lock, the way it see it, comes out thru
the rear tail lite lens. How do I remove the lens? I have no idea. There are no screws that I can see. Thought about prying it up but I
didn't want to bust the lens. Any ideas? By the way, I have a '95 Camry. Thx!

are you abel to open the trunk at all. IF so once you get the trunk open pull the carpet that covers the center of the trunk lid. You will see some 10mm nuts screwed onto studs in the trunk lid. Take those nuts off and you will be able to remove the center panel off of the car. The nuts are recessed into the trunk lid becuase it is basically two pieces of metal welded together witha space about 1.5 inches in between the two pieces.
