4th Generation Brighter Reverse Lights

All Gen 4 owners would prolly know that the back-up lights on our car are pretty dim in comparison with too many others to count. The stock bulbs used are the low wattage, low brightness 921 wedge-based bulbs.

So does anyone know of any brighter alternative for halogen 921 bulbs? Some brighter backup lights increase visibility for the driver and awareness for anyone near the driver, so I'd really like to find a good pair of 921s that give a lot of spreading of the light. I've looked into some LED ones, but they are merely more vibrant, but doesn't disperse a lot of light compared to halogens.

I found these on ebay and noticed they sell them in my area too, does anyone know if xenon gas-filled bulbs really do make it actually brighter? These MTEC ones claim to do it.

haha i use these in my high mount brake light. I have PIAA xenons for reverse. They are white but not brighter than oem. THey give off a blue tint too, and look blue when not lit. I'm not sure if this increases or decreases visibility in daylight, but it stands out more than the typical reverse light. If you want it to be brighter, clear out the tail lights, just like you did your headlights.

Amen to this thread.

My plan is to get the harness from teh brake lights or turn signals and see if I can get it to fit.

Then I will buy a coresponding(spelling?) bulb with as many white LEDs as possible.

I have a 5 led bulb in there. Really white but only as bright as stock.

THere are larger bulbs that use the same base but still not brigh enough for me.

i've tried the led's...not even close to the stock bulb...perhaps ur leds are of different design. However LED's would be GREAT if only the way the bulb were inserted were straight back, just like the brake lights. THe reverse lights are at an angle making LED's (unless they are angled) not very effective.

Make sure for the harness that somehow you dont trigger the blown tail light sensor...LEDs draw too little power for the computer to recognize there is a bulb there. But for the reverse light the sensor doesnt sense it.

I did use ones that were angled.but there are only 5. Not enough output. If I could only get a 1156 or 3156 bulb in there (and still be sealed well)

I know what you mean abouth the diagonal shit.......sucks.............

ahah yeah alright. Good luck with that...although in all honesty how often do we really use our reverse lights? ahha It is still our responsibility to look out for other cars...typcailly once a driver sees our lights its almost too late.

And if you notice a lot of cars dont even have functioning reverse lights cos they never check it themselves and they are not hooked up to the computer for some odd reason.
