3rd Generation different trunks?

ok some ass hole in a lifted truck tapped the back of my car. not much damage just a dent in the trunk and long cracks in the centerbar for the tail lights. I was just wondering if it is possible to put the 96 trunk onto a 92 cuz now that the centerbar is fucked I would rather get rid of it if I can. saves me some time bondo'ing and painting.

the trunk will fit no problem. The only thing is the center bar as you call it has lights in it for reverse and tail/brake lights. On the gen3.5 trunks there are no tail/brake lights. SO you will need to do something about those. I guess if you really wanted to you could jsut let them hang in the trunk because if you take them out then the indicator is going to light up on the dash saying you ahve tail/brake lights out. You may want to search around on here to see if there is a way to bypass it or when you get the new trunk see if you can get the wiring for the trunk also. It runs along the hinges and down into the trunk behind the carpet and all. You amy be able to unhook it from the tail light indicator module and plug in the wiring from the gen3.5 trunk.

Just geussing on all of this but some things to think about. You may even want to get the indicator module from teh donor car also.

you can always put in resistors or just take the bulb out of your dash too

Also, the 95-96 camry middle center is a different shape from the 92's tail lights. 92-96 has a slight outward curve to them. It will fit perfectly, just the tail lights and the center won't match.
