Motor Oil Weight

Hello Everyone,
I just took my Gen 3 to get a Oil Change and the Mechanic used 5W30. At the moment I thought this seemed weird, but I trusted him, b/c I really don't know much about oil, only that I use Sythetic. When I got home and looked through my car records, I saw that the car had previously taken 10W30. Is this change in weights okay?? I don't really know much about the weights, all I know is that I was looking through the internet and it says that a lighter weight is ideal, especially in the cold, because it's less weight on the motor. I have a 2.2 I4. Am I using the right oil? Thanks

5W30 is fine, most shops will put that in for you in the Winter due to the weather. You can switch it back to 10W30 in the Spring.

5W30 assists in colder weather starts. 10W30 and 5W30 are identical at running temperature. That's the only notable difference.
