Can my camry use a bigger oil filter?

My 2.2L 5sfe camry uses a 90915-10001 or 90915-YZZC5 toyota filter. Is there any harm if I use a longer filter like the 90915-10004 or 90915-YZZA6 designed for the newer 2.4L 2azfe camrys?

Why would a longer filter matter? Just stick to the factory recommended size and you won't have any issues.

you can use 4runner oil filters. from their 3vzfe engine. i think thats what it is. the engine in the 99 4runner. i accidentally put thatn on my car instead of my moms and when i noticed there was no problem
doubt that would be a problem either. should work fine.

I was curious, so I cut open both filters to see what's inside.

Here's the one for the 2.2L 5sfe:

Yikes! No bypass valve!

Here's the higher quality one for the 2.4L 2azfe, the red rubber is softer and more pliable:

if the gasket and the threads are identical, then go nuts, i like the looks of that longer one too, think i might look into this for the next oil change, ,but for the 3vz
