Camry Sunroof - Noise esp. over time

I am trying to decide if I want a moonroof in a new 2007 Camry Hybrid. My Passat's moonroof has been a bit of an annoyance for as long as I have had it. When I slide back the interior shade to use it as a "moonroof", the ambient noise increases noticeably at highway speeds. No, it is not the sound of air rushing in somewhere, but the general noise level is noticeably more. Of course, I lived with it by keeping the interior shade closed any time I am on the highway.

Then there's the rattle/vibration whenever I tip the sunroof open. VW has adjusted the sunroof periodically, but within a week or so, it goes back to vibrating.

In the end, I'm not sure the fun of a sunroof is worth the extra noise/rattles.

How have Camry owners found their sunroof-equipped cars, especially at highway speed as well as with the age of the car? Would you do it again, or just save $1000?

Thanks!

Eh

Qualitywise you won't have a problem with it. I've had sunroofs in my last 3 Toyota's with no problem. The 06 Highlander has side airbags and Toyota ONLY builds them with sunroofs so no choice. If I did I wouldn't have gotten it for a)save 1k b)more headroom. You have to ask your salesperson for a copy of the TVO (Toyota Vehicle Ordering) guide. It shows how Toyota is building their cars, i.e. options, colors, quantity. Most likely with a Hybrid Camry you won't have a choice and it will come with the sunroof. Jon.

My '07 XLE sunroof is quiet when closed whether the shade is forward or back. Normal air flow noise when open.

I thought I might have a headroom problem (6'-2") but plenty of headroom.

Well, I was hoping for a few more posts, but thank both of you for taking the time. I guess I'll have to drive one and see for myself!

my 1990 celica (sold in 2003) had an OEM sunroof, never any rattles or any problems. My ES has over 175K miles...no rattles yet!!
I'd suggest sunroof rattle shouldn't be your determinant if you want one or now...It should be if yu want to pay the extra price. IMO, if you plan on keeping the car, it is worth it!
