2nd Generation 3SGTE 3SFE Performance parts

Is there a standalone computer that I can buy for the 3SFE now and use for a 3SGTE later in life when I upgrade to it? Such as a computer that is adjustable betweeen boost and non boost applications. I want to buy parts for the 3SFE, but I dont want to scrap them when I switch to 3SGTE, since it might be a while before that happens.

lol. I get the satisfaction of putting something new on my ride lol. Am I really wasting my money if it is goin to be used for the 3SGTE? And again nothing is being done to the 3SFE. I want a computer that could be used on both. I dont care if you see it logical or not to buy it now or ten years from now, I am still gonna have to buy it.

Another point I would have in my defense. If I buy the computer now I could have something to mess with before the long wait of saving for a swap. Not only that the computer is part of the swap in a sense. Well at least if I were to swap out a 3SGTE where a 3SFE was, I would want a standalone computer.

You can make in excess of 250 *wheel* horsepower with the stock 3s-gte computer... start your thoughts of a standalone at that point. Trust me when I say you don't want a standalone until you absolutely need it. The hassles aren't worth the gains until you are making at least 50% more than the stock motor puts out.

100% correct.

I've known many people with standalones - and for that exact reason, I'm not going to run one until I really need it.

^^

I've installed and tuned standalones. They can be a pain in the ass. Installing it is one thing, but getting it working and tuned is another.

Tuning a standalone is no fun. It requires a lot of time and understanding of air, fuel, timing, etc...

My friend still has issues with his Accel DFI (Gen 7+). The motor doesn't start up right away, it takes a few cranks before it'll fire up. It can be fixed, but he hasn't bothered with it.

In the summer and winter, it needs to retuned cos it won't idle right with the temperature being different.

I agree with Charlie, stick with the stock ECU till you exceed the capabilities of it.
