Yep. I got a ticket 4 years ago for them... that's why they say that they're for "offroad" use only.

Not worth it! You don't want to take a chance that someone's going to slam into you during the day because they couldn't see your brake lights. Personally I avoid driving behind cars with clears cuz I can't see their brake lights. Also it's not worth an unfriendly visit from the NYPD.
clear tails are not illegal. Yes altering your OEM tails, and buying clears is illegal, but if you car came stock with clear tails like the next RX330.... its perfectly legal. The only illegal part would be not having a red reflector in the rear, and this is why the next RX330 has red reflectors along the bottom of the bumper, and on each rear side.

yes the RX330 has clear "looking" lights, but you can clearly see inside the red from the bulbs.. they're not clear white like the aftermarket ones.. they're actually more transparent. and the bulbs are most likely superbright red bulbs, which would give you the RED light rather than the pink effect that clear aftermarket lights give you.

well i live in staten island in nyc and i havent had a problem with my clear taillights n i already gotten pulled over with them for speeding in the day and night and other bs...but like rx330 u could see the red bulbs and i had the lenses for a good 9 months...so i really dont kno if theyre illegal

you could get altezzas and then spray either smoke or red lens spray. it would look cool because its red/smoke but when you brake you could see the individual circles. if you want to do this make sure you get the REAL japanese spray for about 25bux. my friends used the model spray and it looked like sh1t. the model ones cost like 3bux and they kept yelling stoge money, stoge money! now their taillights look like sunburned skin peeling...
