Check Engine Light Code 55 (HELP)

I need some help please.

A few days ago my CEL came on. Code 55. In my manual it says it is related to the knock sensor. I know I have to remove the intake plenum to get to it.

My question is, is it possible to find the connector and if so, I would like to try to disconnect it and reconnect it. Then I could maybe try to clean the connections???

I have a Camry 92, V6 SE. 183000 miles.

Where is the knock sensor located exactly? It is so cramped there it is hard to see through.

Does anybody have pictures?

Thanks again!!!

Any ideas?

You have two codes in the manual...53 and 55... I wonder if the knock sensor is bad or something else is causing the problem

Knock sensor - Please help

I have read a lot of messages where people could disconnect the wire, take a piece of sand paper and clean the connectors. Is that possible to do? If so from which side can you reach the sensor? The driver's or passenger's side? if you have small hand is it hard to reach?

I am not talking about replacing the sensor but just disconnecting it to see if the connectors are dirty. (Who knows maybe I can be lucky with this)

Thanks!

it's impossible to reach the knock sensors without removing the intake plehum+manifold there is no way in at all except from the top

and there are no connectors to clean....you could try cleaning the actual sensor itself so that it can ground better on the block, but it shouldn't be able to get dirty since it's already threaded in

the only thing that usually happens on a stock engine is the wires themselves going due to age, heat, or pulling
