Which Koni's are they? Is it the Koni Special? The price on Tire Rack is $131 a piece so the $450 is a pretty good price. Has anyone had any experience with these compared to the Tokicos or KYB's?
Here is the link to the Konis at Tire Rack http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/Susptabl.jsp?autoMake=Toyota&autoModel=Camry+LE&au toYear=1995&brand=all&x=50&y=7
It says that those struts are for "non-sealed struts only".. I thought 95's(Like mine) are sealed, what gives?
some of the gen 3s came with sealed struts, others came with strut cartridges that you can replace. you can get a set of tokico cartridges for about 270/280 shipped and those are very good quality as well.
the sealed tokicos are like 4-5 bills.
if you have a question about the sealed vs nonsealed just do a search on the forum. i think people have put up some good pics to help us determine.
Yeah i know mine is sealed, b/c all 95s are sealed..but i went onto tire rack and put in my year and car make/model and it gave me Koni Specials for $131 a piece, now that would be $524 for all four. usually that would be price for sealed struts but it says that it is for non-sealed stuts only. I dont understand why such the high price and why the search brought up non-sealed struts for my car?
Does tokico even make sealed struts for the 92 -96 camry. I thought that they didn't? I might be wrong, but i haven't seen sealed tokicos for that application.

they did. I had them on my 94. im installing my Konis this Sunday.
I just spoke to a customer service and they said Koni's only make non-sealed. They sell them for 186 a piece totalling to $744 without shipping. I guess my price of $450 is pretty damn good. Oh yeah, Ratko's question, I found a distributor who selling them for that price part# 86-2484 and 86-2485. If anyone is interested let me know by tomorrow afternoon latest ( Saturday and see if we can get a better price). Last question, what's the advantages of it being sealed or not. The ride/performance/handling/etc?

They only make non-sealed for Camry's or all cars? B/C my friend had sealed on his Accord. Will those part #'s only fit non-sealed Camry's only? B/C i have a 95 Camry sealed.

Performance wise, they should be valved the same, so there should be no difference.
For practicality, the non-sealed assemblies are advantageous because swapping out only the cartridge is far more cheaper for the manfacturers hence the large price different. I had sealed struts before, and not only did it limit my strut options, but also my wallets options. It just seems like a waste of money getting aftermarket sealed units because all of the spring perches are the same, along with the aseemblies. Inserts are a more practical solution.

BTW- on a side note, it is probably possible for a sealed strut to be modified to fit an aftermarket cartridge, i guess someone just needs to take on the task.
im sure if this were a honda board, at least 3 people would have by now

Depends on your personal driving, but for the price, and if you have non-sealed struts... I would get the Koni's, but since you have Eibachs, your drop isnt too extreme, so KYB should be fine too.. but there is no comparing the quailty of the two AND Koni has a lifetime warranty so you got peace of mind.
Sorry for being a pest Ratko... thanks for the replying.. I will probably get the Koni's. Oh yeah. how much is the average price for installing them with springs in a performance shop... last reply for this topic..
