well i have a stock 01' 5sfe and the cars been going crazy.. ill list the problems
- dome light not working
- clock keeps resetting
- when openning the door after being locked to get in, door lock/open button wont work, only works after the engine starts
- keyless entry opens only one door, makes a half beep only, cannot open all 4 doors BUT locks the doors perfectly fine
- when key in ignition and openned door beeps very quickly
- when alarm goes off, i cant turn it off therefore engine can't turn on (oem security feature i think)
i checked all the fuses, 2 shops also checked them, their fine.. i dont know what else to do.. i believe their all connected somehow..wires maybe? i honestly dont want to bring it to a toyota dealer because they want 200 for a DIAGNOSES only.. advice anyone? i cant turn on the engine anymore cause my alarm still wont turn off even after i resetted the battery and disconnected and reconnected the alarm
please.. any advice from electrical technitions out there? calling out all veteran TN members?

If you ask me sounds like there is a problem with the electrical. Almost like the car battery is being disconnected and reconnected. I would check you battery and the battery cable and make sure the connection is fine. Clean it if it's rusty.
As for the keyless remote, how's the battery on the remote. Sounds like it registers the first click which ones the driver door but does not have enough power after the initial click to signal another door unlock.
yeah i connect and reconnect it alot.. but the battery is perfectly fine since i checked it last week (battery 2 months old)
that might sound right.. cause i click it the 2nd time and it doesnt register it.. but if i press the open door and lock right after, it works.
if the battery connection was bad then everything else would probably be screwed up
any other ideas?
edit: i noticed that all the doors wont unlock until after i turn on the engine.. maybe thats linked to me not being able to unlock all the doors via keyless entry.. but still doesnt explain the half-beep when i open the drivers side door
As somebody else mentioned check your battery connection. Not the battery, but the wires that go to the battery. Are they in good shape trace them to their connection is anything loose? Are the wires tight on the battery? What you are describing is similar to something I saw on my truck (non-toyota) when body shop hadn't attached the wire to the battery and it was loose. It would reset my clock and radio settings. Also is your alternator working?
This could be sooo many different things from a bad ground to a short in the electrical system. You are going to get a thousand different answers on this one man. There is no real way to determine this without getting a diagnostics check. That is my only suggestion... take it to the dealer and get the diagnostics check done. That's right I said "dealer" don't take it to an unreliable shop only for them to tell you they "didn't find anything wrong" and charge you anyway. Good luck to you.
Maybe you have a bad, worn out ignition switch. It is worn and maybe not passing power to everything all the time or passing power erratically.
Does this car have alotta miles, and alot of engine starts? Do you use a heavy key ring? They can be worn out and still pass power to most things, most of the time.
One way to check is try using the erratic accesories and then jiggle the key or move it just a fraction and see if that makes them work or not.
i finally figured out whats wrong.. it was the alarm the whole time.. i guess toyotas alarm was going berserk or whatever.. and caused everything to malfunction.. thanks anyways guys
