Japan camry left, driver side axle

1994 1mzfe automatic trans
ok, remember the knocking sound i was talking about in the thread earlier, well i finally found out the problem. the main shaft bolt that comes out between the hub, the 30mm main screw, broke off and my rotor is a mess, had to go get it "turned" for 10 bucks.

I pulled out the axle, and changed it with the inner and outer, with the six 8mm allen bolts, etc. Now its ready to be installed.

Here is the question:

Do i just shove it back into my transmission? Hammer it back in? Inside, with a flash light, i can see a 3 metal layered sandwhiched piece in the center, looks like an ice cream sandwhich all the inside the block. Does that matter, will that get in the way? How do i install the axle back into place?????

Please help me!! i need to drive to school, been riding on the bus, and it sucks!!!!

thanks guys from mark "dead fetus"

3rd Generation more info

I am trying to replace my left, driverside axle, and the cv boot. I've taken out the axle out as a whole piece, including the outer and inner joints. The side gear shaft also came off with it.

Question:

Can i use a brass punch and a hammer to push it all the way into the differential side gear? Is there something inside that needs to be removed before punching it in? Please help me out!!! thanks from mark

The axle pops into the differential. In other words, grab the axle, line up the splines and push it in.

push hard. you will know it when it is in place. you will fell like you are pushing on something solid. jsut make sure you line up the splines before getting to crazy pushing it in. You would hate to mess them up.
